Does work disconnection affect your well-being?

Does well-being decline with age or with personal and organizational disconnection?

A new global Gallup study has revealed a complex pattern between age and subjective well-being. Although it is often assumed that happiness declines over time, the reality is much more nuanced: levels of emotional well-being and life satisfaction do not follow a uniform curve. The perception of life, the sense of purpose and everyday emotions vary significantly depending on the social, economic and cultural context.

From Organizational Change, this finding resonates with a fundamental principle: well-being is not only personal, it is also organizational. A work environment that recognizes the value of human development, that adapts its practices to the different stages of life, and that fosters a culture of connection and meaning, can counteract this apparent decline in well-being as we advance in age.

The real challenge for modern organizations is this: it is not just about keeping young talent motivated, but about accompanying all employees in their vital evolution, with empathetic leadership policies, listening spaces and transformation strategies that prioritize the sense of belonging.
